Medtronic's Fiscal Q2 Earnings Exceed Wall Street Expectations

The medical device company posted revenue of $7.59 billion in the period.

DUBLIN (AP) - Medtronic PLC (MDT) on Tuesday reported fiscal second-quarter earnings of $427 million.

The Dublin-based company said it had net income of 32 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.30 per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 13 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.28 per share.

The medical device company posted revenue of $7.59 billion in the period, missing Street forecasts. Eleven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $7.72 billion.

Medtronic expects full-year earnings in the range of $5.25 to $5.30 per share.
