TekniPlex Healthcare is extending its North American footprint with a new 200,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Madison, Wisconsin. The facility, which will be the company's second in the city, is scheduled to open in early 2024.
The new plant will operate under the ISO 13485:2016 quality management system, which certifies the ability to provide medical devices and related services that consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements.
The new location will feature sophisticated new manufacturing equipment that will boost the company's lamination capacity for a range of materials, including PET, nylon, paper, foil, PE, EAA and ionomer, in both peelable and non-peelable structures. The investment will help drive shorter lead-times and ensure quality. The laminate and coated products are used in a variety of applications for the medical device, pharmaceutical, and diagnostics end markets, including flexible foil and plastic pouches, contact lens packaging, blisters and blister lidding, and sterilizable protective structures for medical devices, accessories and procedural tools.
According to Chris Qualters, TekniPlex Healthcare CEO, this facility will also enhance business continuity planning, which is crucial to lifesaving industries that require supply risk mitigation.
The plant will also feature a new flexographic printing capability with a high-definition printer capable of fast changeover to expedite customer delivery times and create an almost zero waste scenario in the production environment.
