B. Braun Medical today announced the launch of the Emergency Department Single-Shot Nerve Block Tray to the U.S. market. The tray is specifically designed for emergency departments and supports clinicians in providing safe pain management while reducing opioid use and its complications in acute care settings. Featuring echogenic technology for improved ultrasound visibility, the company said it is the first ever peripheral nerve block (PNB) tray to include its Ultraplex 360 Needle.
The tray is equipped with essential components for single-shot nerve block procedures. The Ultraplex 360 Needle features B. Braun’s echogenic 360-degree X-pattern which, when combined with a clear coating, is intended to reflect more ultrasound waves back to the probe than previous designs. This needle is designed to provide visibility without compromising consistent puncture performance.
In the emergency department, regional anesthesia offers a safe and effective alternative to opioid therapies, improves patient satisfaction and reduces pain scores. It also helps reduce the transition of acute to chronic pain, reduces length of stay and lowers in-hospital cost.
