Jabil has opened a new Advanced Catheter Development Lab at its St. Petersburg, Florida, headquarters, a move it said will expand its capabilities in minimally invasive medical device technology.

Located within the Jabil Innovation Center, the lab will focus on engineering, prototyping, and new product introduction (NPI) for advanced catheters and other devices. With support from the State of Florida, faculty from the University of Florida and University of South Florida will be able to work together with Jabil technology specialists to develop next-generation medical devices based on the researchers’ real-world experiences in the operating room.

"Jabil, along with our collaborators, is focused on investments in support of medical advances that are making procedures less invasive, more precise, and — most importantly — leading to better outcomes for patients," said Michael Mahaz, senior vice president of global business units, healthcare. "This new lab will support universities and major healthcare brands in advancing catheter development and meeting the growing demand for these important tools.”
