Siemens Buys Boston-Based Life Sciences Software Firm Dotmatics for $5.1B

It will allow Siemens to combine its manufacturing expertise with Dotmatics' complementary applications.

Siemens AG is acquiring Dotmatics, a provider of life sciences R&D software based in Boston, for $5.1 billion.

This acquisition will expand Siemens' digital twin technology and AI-powered software portfolio. The U.S. company offers a platform with a portfolio of scientific applications and multi-modal data management for life sciences R&D.

The acquisition of Dotmatics enables Siemens to scale its technologies into life sciences and to fully address growth opportunities in this market. It will allow Siemens to combine its manufacturing expertise, industrial simulation and AI capabilities with Dotmatics' complementary applications, creating an end-to-end digital thread that connects data from research through to production.
