ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL. — Shibaura Machine Company, America, recently showcased its advanced machining technologies designed to help manufacturers increase precision, productivity and process stability at IMTS 2026 in Chicago.

The company featured solutions spanning heavy-duty large-part machining, multitasking capability, ultra-precision processing and connected manufacturing. At the center of the exhibit was the BTD-200QS Horizontal Boring & Milling Center, engineered for high-accuracy, high-metal-removal machining of large prismatic components.

Built around a rigid machine structure, FANUC Series 31i-B Plus CNC and CAT50 BIG PLUS spindle platform, the BTD-200QS is designed to maintain stable performance from roughing through finishing. Its large machining envelope and high-capacity rotary table support complex multi-face machining, while an integrated two-pallet Automatic Pallet Changer allows operators to load and fixture one pallet while machining continues on the other. The configuration is designed to reduce spindle idle time and improve overall equipment utilization.

The TUE-150(S) Vertical Boring & Turning Mill was also on display. The heavy-duty platform is designed for accurate machining of large and complex workpieces. Its rigid construction and thermally stable design support consistent part quality across demanding turning applications.

With live-tool functionality, the TUE-150(S) expands beyond conventional turning by enabling milling and drilling operations within the same setup. Combining operations can reduce part handling and help manufacturers maintain relationships between critical features by machining them within a common coordinate system.

Finally, Shibaura showed off it ultra-precision nano technology by highlighting the UVM Series, including the UVM-450D, developed for applications where exceptional surface integrity and form accuracy are critical. Target applications include optics, medical devices, semiconductor components and precision dies.

The UVM platform incorporates an in-house 60,000 RPM spindle and a minimum setting unit of 0.01 μm. Proprietary technologies including Form Eye, for on-machine tool geometry measurement, and Shape Eye, for tool-path vector compensation, are designed to address tool-geometry-driven error and support extremely precise machining results.

In addition to machining technology, Shibaura spotlighted it machiNetCloud IIoT platform for monitoring equipment and production data. By bringing machine information into a connected environment, manufacturers can gain greater visibility into operating conditions, utilization and production performance—helping teams identify opportunities to improve uptime and productivity, according to the company.

Shibaura Machine’s machiNetCloud platform provides manufacturers with real-time visibility into machine status, production performance, tool life, operating conditions and other key manufacturing data through customizable dashboards.Shibaura Machine’s machiNetCloud platform provides manufacturers with real-time visibility into machine status, production performance, tool life, operating conditions and other key manufacturing data through customizable dashboards.Shibaura Machine
